Ingredients:
1 medium cabbage
¼ cup soaked chana dal (soak chana dal for 2 hrs in warm water)
½ tspn turmeric powder
2 green chilies
½ tspn mustard seeds
¼ tspn asafoetida
1 tbspn chopped coriander leaves
2 tbspn fresh grated coconut
Salt to taste
Method:
1. Wash and shred cabbage. Heat oil in saucepan. Add mustard seeds. Let it crackle. Add green chilies,turmeric powder and asafoetida.
2. Add chana dal and shredded cabbage. Add salt and stir well.
3. cover saucepan with lid and steam cook for 2 minutes. Don’t cook till cabbage becomes very soft. It will spoil the fun of subji. Keep cabbage half cooked.
4. Garnish with coriander leaves and fresh grated coconut and serve hot with roti.
