Servings : 2 to 3 Persons
1 cup of chickpeas (kabuli chane)
1 tbspn ghee
2 tbspn garlic paste
1 bay leaf, 3-4 cloves, 1" cinamon stick
1 cup finely chopped onion
1 chopped tomato
¼ tspn garam masala
1 ½ tspn Red chilly powder
¼ tspn dry mango powder
¼ tspn coriander seeds powder
¼ cup black tea to enhance colour (without milk)
Salt as per taste
Preparation : Soak chickpeas overnight (8-9 hrs.).
Method:
1. In pressure cooker, add chickpeas and 1 ½ cups of fresh water. Add salt and pressure cook till tender. Do not make extra whistles, otherwise it will get over cooked.
2. Make black tea (don’t add milk and sugar) and keep it aside.
3. Heat ghee in saucepan. Add bay leaf, cloves, cinnamon stick. When you smell a nice aroma,add garlic paste and onion. Stir till you smell a nice aroma. Add chopped tomato, turmeric powder. Add garam masala,dry mango powder ,coriander seeds powder and little salt. Stir till oil started oozing out.
4. Grind hand full of chickpeas in food processor and make paste. Stir with Mixture of onion-tomato and other spices.
5. Add remaining chickpeas and stir well. Add black tea.
6. Add more water if you want more gravy. Let it boil for few minutes.
