Kolhapuri Spicy Chicken Curry

2 to 3 persons 

500 grams
For marinating- 
1 ¼ tspn ginger garlic paste +1/2 tspn turmeric powder + salt + 2 tbspn yogurt
for Grinding - 

1 ½ cup sliced onion+ ½ tspn poppy seeds+ 2-3 cashewnuts+ 3-4 tspn fresh grated coconut+ 3 cloves+ 6-7 peppercorns+ 1” cinnamon stick+ ½ tspn black cumin seeds+ 1 tspn coriander seeds
For making gravy- 
½ cup finely chopped onion,2 tspn red chilly powder,1 cup chopped tomato
3 tbspn oil 

1. Marinate and refrigerate chicken for 2 to 3 hours.
2. Soak poppy seeds in warm water. Grind sliced onion (raw), soaked poppy seeds and other mentioned spices with 1/2 cup of warm water to make fine paste.
3. Heat oil in a saucepan and add finely chopped onion. Stir till turns soft and translucent. Add turmeric powder,red chilly powder and tomato. Stir till you see oil coming out from the mixture.
4. Add ground spices and onion paste. Add salt and mix well. Let it cook for 2 minutes.
5. Add marinated chicken and stir. Add sufficient water to make thin gravy.
6. Cover the saucepan and let it cook for 15-20 minutes . Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve with chapati or rice. 

Tip: Add red chilly powder as per your taste. Don’t use readymade ginger garlic paste. Make fresh ginger garlic paste to make chicken tastier.
