Ingredients:
1 cup rice
¾ cup split green grams
1 tspn goda masala
¼ tspn red chilly powder
½ tspn cumin seeds
¼ tspn asafoetida
5-6 curry leaves
2 dry chilies
1 1/2 tbspn grated jaggery
salt to taste
3 tbspn oil
Method:
1. Wash and soak rice and split green grams (mung dal) together. Heat oil in cooker. Add cumin, dry chilies (broken into 2 pieces),curry leaves and asafetida. Add soaked rice ,split green gram(mung dal). Stir for 2 minutes. Add goda masala, turmeric powder,red chilly powder and jaggery. Stir for 2-3 minutes till jaggery melts.
2. Add 3 times of water of total quantity of rice and mung dal. Add salt and mix well.
3. Pressure cook khichadi in 3 whistles. Serve hot khichadi with some ghee on it. You can serve gujrati kadhi and papad with khichadi
