Dadpe Pohe

Servings: 4 Persons

Ingredients:
6 hand full of thin pohe
¾ Cup finely chopped onion
½ Cup fresh grated coconut

3 tspn lemon juice
2 tspn sugar
2 pinch black salt
¼ Cup coriander leaves chopped
Salt to taste
For tempering-
½ tspn mustard seeds, ¼ tspn asafoetida, 5-6 curry leaves, 2 green chilies

Method:
1. Put pohe in a large plate. Add onion, fresh grated coconut, coriander leaves,
lemon juice, black salt in poha. Mix everything with your hand.
2. Pohe will become wet due to fresh coconut and salt.
3. In a small saucepan heat 2 tbsp of oil. Add mustard seeds, when they crackle, add chopped green chilies, curry leaves and then add asafoetida - give tadka.
4. Mix well with pohe. And cover Pohe with a heavy vessel for 5-10 minutes and then serve. It will help to soak sweet and sour taste to pohe.

Tip: You can garnish Dadpe Pohe with thin shev. It will enhance the taste.

  3. This is really helpful. I am moving to US and was wondering how I would cook without good exposure to cooking. The unique selling point of this blog is it also has Marathi translation. It really helps as, sometimes, reading recipe in English does not give me the feel of cooking. Jevan ruchakar honyasathi marathitach vachal ki kalat. :-) keep up the good work!
