2 cups chopped methi
½ cup tuar dal
1-2 green chillies
2 tspn fresh grated coconut
¼ tspn turmeric powder
¼ cup of sour buttermilk
salt as per taste
1 tbspn of oil and 5-6 garlic cloves
1. Wash dal thoroughly. In pressure cooker , add washed tuar dal, fenugreek leaves(methi leaves) and green chilly with 1 ½ cup of water. Cook everything in 3-4 whistles.
2. Mash dal and fenugreek leaves together. remove cooked green chilles. Add turmeric powder, dry mango powder,salt,fresh grated coconut and bring it to boil.
3. Heat oil in small saucepan. Add chopped garlic cloves. When it turns pink make tadka to the mixture(dal-methi). Cover it with a lid to stay good aroma of tadka.
4. Add buttermilk just before serving.
Tip: You can add 2-3 kokum or dry mango powder instead of buttermilk and make tadka of mustard seeds and asafoetida.It tastes good too.
