Matar Rassa -Green Peas Curry

Servings : 4 Persons 

1 ½ cup steamed green peas
1 cup finely chopped onion
1 small potato (peel and make small cubes)
¼ tspn turmeric powder
2 tbspn oil
For grinding -
1 cup finely chopped coriander leaves
2 green chillies
½ tspn coriander seeds
½ tspn cumin seeds
½ tomato
3 tbspn fresh grated coconut
Whole garam masala (1 clove,3 peppercorns,1” cinnamon stick)
Salt to taste

1. Grind coriander leaves, green chilies, whole garam masala, tomato, coriander seeds, cumin seeds and fresh grated coconut with warm water. Make a fine paste.
2. Heat oil in saucepan. Add onion. Stir onion till translucent. Add turmeric powder and potato cubes. Stir well. Cover saucepan with a lid. Let it cook for few minutes. Then add  the paste of coconut and other spices. Stir well.
3. Add green peas and salt. Add sufficient water to make curry thin. Bring it to boil and let the green peas cook for few minutes.
4. If you are using frozen green peas then boil curry for 2 to 3 minutes and turn off the heat.
5. Serve Green peas curry with roti or rice.

  1. You have not mentioned TOMATO anywhere in the ingredients list but used it in recipe (method) unable to understand its quantity..????
