Punjabi Kadhi Pakode

Tasty Punjabi dish cooked with buttermilk kadhi and spicy methi Pakodas

Servings : 2 to 3 Persons 

Ingredients: 
For making kadhi- 
1 ½ cup yogurt
1 ¼ cup water
2 tbspn chickpea floor
½ tspn turmeric powder
1 tspn red chilly powder
¼ tspn fenugreek seeds
1 dry chilly
¼ cup coriander finely chopped
2 tbspn oil
For making pakodas-
1 ½ cup fenugreek leaves
1 ½ cup finely chopped onion
¼ tsp carom seeds
½ tspn cumin seeds
1 tbspn grated ginger
Salt as per taste
¼ tspn sugar
½ tspn red chilly powder
¼ tspn turmeric powder
1 ½ tspn rice floor
Chickpea floor as required (approximately 4-5 tspn)
1-2 tspn water if needed
Oil for deep frying 

Method: 
1. Mix together all the ingredients for pakodas. Combine well. Add 1-2 tspn of water if needed. Mixture should become sticky so that you can make pakodas.
2. For making kadhi- Beat yogurt in a bowl. Add chickpea floor,turmeric powder, chilly powder, salt and sugar. Mix well. Add water and avoid lumps.
3. Heat oil in a wok. Add fenugreek seeds and dry chilly broken into 2 pieces. When it turns aromatic, add yogurt mixture to that. Heat and stir mixture till it becomes thick. Add chopped coriander leaves and mix well.
4. In the meantime heat oil in a wok and Drop 1 tbspn of pakoda mixture in the hot oil and deep fry pakodas till it turns brown.
5. Add pakodas in the kadhi and boil for 2-3 minutes. Serve kadhi-pakoda with jeera rice or with paratha.

Tip: Add pakodas in the kadhi just before serving. If you add them in advance, pakodas will become soggy.
