Sweet and Sour Dal

Servings: 3 to 4 Persons

1/4 cup toor dal
1 tspn goda masala
1 1/2 tspn tamarind pulp
1 1/4 tspn grated jaggery
1/2 tspn red chilly powder
1/4 tspn turmeric powder
For tempering-
5-6 curry leaves
1/4 tspn mustard seeds
1/4 tspn asafoetida
1 tbspn oil
salt to taste

1. Pressure cook toor dal till tender. Mash cooked dal well.
2. Add goda masala,red chilly powder,turmeric powder,salt,tamarind and jaggery. Mix well.
3. Add some water and boil dal for 2-3 minutes.
4. Heat oil in small saucepan. Add mustard seeds. let it crackle. Add curry leaves and asafoetida. Give tadka to the dal. Serve hot with rice.
