Tamarind Chutney

Servings:
approximately 1 cup 



Ingredients: 
3 tbspn tamarind
5 tbspn shredded jaggery
½ tspn red chilly powder
1 black date
½ tspn cumin powder
½ tspn coriander powder
Salt to taste


Method: 
1. Soak tamarind in the water for 15-20 minutes. Remove all the pulp by pressing and spinning with fingers. Take fresh water and soak the same tamarind and repeat the same procedure for 2-3 times till u get all the pulp. Throw remaining portion.
2. Drain all the pulp with tea strainer. Mash black date and mix it with tamarind pulp. Grind everything in the mixer.
3. Add coriander powder, cumin powder, jaggery, red chilly powder and salt. Mix well and bring it to boil. Boil the mixture for 2-3 minute till it become little thick.
4. Let the chutney comes to room temperature then serve it with snacks or you can use it with chat dishes.

Tip: Boiling the mixture will help to keep chutney fresh for a longer time. Make chutney in large quantity and keep it refrigerated. You can use it anytime especially when you are in hurry or loaded with some other work.
